About
Self-custody, without the bravery tax.
Most people don't want a wallet. They want private storage, a portable name, and the ability to send things to other humans. AWOL makes those the product — and lets the crypto stay invisible until someone asks for it.
Why we exist
Three things should be yours: your drive, your name, and your money. Today, all three are rented from corporations who can read them, freeze them, or delete them on a whim.
The technology to fix this has existed for years — it's just been packaged for an audience that already cared. AWOL is the same technology, repackaged for everyone else. The wallet, the storage protocol, the identity layer — they're already audited Rust. What was missing was a product surface where a normal person can use them without learning the word "blockchain."
We're a small team. Apache-2.0 and MIT licensed. No VC obligations to extract rents from our users. Revenue comes from people who want to pay — short names, large drives, in-wallet swaps — not from gating the free experience.
