Terms of Service

The deal, in plain English.

Last updated May 14, 2026.

1. The software is yours to run

AWOL is released under Apache-2.0 and MIT. You can download it, audit it, modify it, and run it forever — even if our company disappears tomorrow. These terms govern the hosted services (this website, the lighthouse, the API), not the open-source code, which has its own license.

2. Self-custody means self-responsibility

You hold your keys. We can't recover them, reset them, or unlock your wallet for you. Back up your mnemonic. Use the encrypted seed-backup feature if you'd rather we didn't ask you about it again.

3. No financial advice

AWOL is a tool for managing keys and moving data. Nothing on this site or in the application is investment, legal, or tax advice. Cryptocurrencies are volatile; you can lose money. Don't put in more than you can afford to.

4. Fees

The fees on the Pricing page are authoritative. We'll never silently change a free tier into a paid one. If fees change, your existing free-tier usage stays free.

5. Acceptable use

Don't use AWOL to ship malware, host material that's illegal where you live, or attack our infrastructure. We reserve the right to refuse service to accounts doing those things — though, as Section 1 notes, you can always run your own copy.

6. As-is, no warranty

The software and the hosted services are provided "as is," without warranty of any kind. We do our best — see Security for what that looks like in practice — but you use AWOL at your own risk.
